“My Mental Health Journey”

Otsuka pharmaceuticals recently announced one of their My Mental Health Journey Registry Study. This study offers a unique experience that is fully virtual and not intervention based. Rather, it offers participants the opportunity to share their own mental health journey to bring awareness and inform future paths of research.

The Study’s Purpose:

My Mental Health Journey aims to gather data and insight on the symptom severity and disease progression in depression over time based on real input from participants with lived experiences of depression. Obtaining such information can help identify areas of gaps in current research, enhance development efforts of future interventions/studies, and overall bring more awareness to the reality of living with depression.

Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible for the study, participants must have depression-related symptoms such as fatigue, anxiety, sadness, etc. It is not required to have an official medical/psychiatric diagnosis. Participants must also be able to read and understand English or Spanish, have smartphone or computer access with internet connection, be 18 years of age or older, and a resident of the US.

Study Procedures:

The study uses an app that participants will be asked to download for documentation and monitoring purposes. Participants will also be asked to complete study visits that are fully virtual. Additional requirements include electronic patient-reported outcomes and survey completion about one’s symptoms of depression at periodic intervals.

During the initial stages, participants will be asked to take a series of surveys that should take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete. Participants will also be alerted when there are other study activities or other surveys to be completed which that take about 30-40 minutes on average.

Benefits:

All participants will receive educational materials about depression to increase their own awareness and knowledge. Participating in the study helps inform future research and advancements in medicine and treatment for depression.
