Mental Health and Valentine’s Day

While Valentine’s Day can be a day filled with love and joy for some; it can also be a hard day for others.

For those struggling with anxiety, depression, or other mental health concern; it can make things overwhelming, anxiety-provoking, or even daunting. There can be increased pressure to make things “perfect” for the one you love and other anxieties that come along with it. Or maybe there could be heightened anxiety because there’s tension in your romantic relationship. In addition to anxiety and depression, Valentine’s Day can also bring about feelings of loneliness and isolation for those who may have lost someone, or not have a special someone in their lives. Whatever the case may be, if you are experiencing any of the above this Valentine’s Day, you are not alone. It’s okay if you’re in this boat.

If Valentine’s Day is hard for you, take time to care for yourself. Remember, self-love is just as important as the love you give to others. Show yourself the self-love and respect you deserve, too.
